This species is known from eastern Angola, southeastern Democratic Republic of Congo, most of Zambia, and southwestern Tanzania adjacent to the Zambian border. A record from Mbega in the Kilombero Valley of southeastern Tanzania probably refers to Afrixalus quadrivittatus (M. Pickersgill pers comm.). A record from Tulawaka in northwestern Tanzania, and records from Duque de Braganca and Cabiri in northwestern Angola (Ruas 1991) require confirmation.
