Hyperolius acutirostris Buchholz and Peters in Peters, 1875
EOL Text
A small Hyperolius (males 20–23 mm, females 23–29 mm) from the forest of Cameroun. Dorsal pattern often showing broad transverse bands, alternating dark and light. There is always a light band in front of the urostyle, distinguishing this species from the similar endjami and mosaicus. Gular flap very small. Black pigmentation on underside of feet, hands, and often lower jaw. Small tubercles on dorsum. Canthus rostralis distinct. Pupils horizontal.

This species is known only from south-western Cameroon, where it occurs as far east as the Yaounde region. It is generally a lowland species, but it has been found up to 1,300m asl to the north-east of Mount Cameroon.

Breeds in small bodies of water in trees. Some sites are used by several individuals over several breeding seasons. The voice is a clack.

Hyperolius acutirostris is a species of frog in the Hyperoliidae family. It is endemic to Cameroon. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. It is threatened by habitat loss.
