Abstract:

A new species of sand frog in the genus Tomopterna is described from the highlands of south-central Tanzania. It is distinguished from the other three species of sand frogs in East Africa on the basis of a low-pitched advertisement call, more webbing, and differences in morphology and colour pattern. It is genetically different from eight other species of sandfrogs.
